The artistic journey of Jeannette Johannsen-Evans is a tapestry deeply rooted in painting, the language in which the purest force of her expression resides. Born in Chile in 1969 and based in Switzerland for many years, she has developed and consolidated virtually her entire artistic and professional career on Swiss soil. A visual artist by vocation and innate instinct, oil painting has been the central pillar of her life; a natural gift she has refined and cultivated throughout her professional career.
With a deep fascination for the human condition and nature, Jeannette finds in oil the perfect medium to explore portrait and landscape. In each canvas she captures not only form and light, but also the emotional essence of people and the poetic atmosphere of the surroundings that envelop them. This primary passion is nourished by, and harmoniously complements, her work as a professional photographer and her studies in costume design, disciplines that bring to her paintings an exceptional sense of visual drama, texture, physicality and narrative.
